78: The Virtue Inside

Captain America: The First Avenger.

Marvel began it’s road by securing the money to create it’s studio in 2005 and then started the process of figuring out which film would be first. Originally Captain America was to be the one kicking things off, but when Jon Favreau was approached as director, he chose to make Iron Man instead, leaving the Captain out in the cold until Joe Johnston was brought on board to bring his origin to life.

In this episode of The 602 Club host Matthew Rushing is joined by Howling Commando Bruce Gibson to talk about Captain America: The First Avenger. We discuss our familiarity with Marvel, something a little different, character matters, the cast, the villain, the director, skinny Steve, the music, a few last things and our ratings.

74: Why We Can’t Have Nice Things

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Comic fans have been having the argument for over 70 years about who would win in a fight between Superman and Batman. At the end of Man of Steel the production team was looking for the next challenge that Superman would face and in that conversation the idea was thrown out that it should be Batman. Thus was born the genesis of Batman v Superman, Zach Snyder’s newest film in the DC cinematic universe.

In this episode of The 602 Club host Matthew Rushing is joined by Justice League members Norman Lao and Tristan Riddell to talk about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We discuss after Man of Steel, the Wayne’s death, the players on the board, the new Bruce Wayne and Batman, becoming the villain, Superman, living out Jor-El’s words, if Lois is just a damsel, Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, The Justice League, Jeremy Irons, fight night, Martha, Doomsday, music, look and our ratings.

73: The Scrappy Doo of Scooby Doo

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie.

“It’s very much Star Wars. It’s not a, you know, South Park comedy. It’s not a baby girls show like Hannah Montana. It’s sort of the first dramatic animated show that is, um, PG-13, so it doesn’t really go on late night, it doesn’t go on Saturday afternoon, it actually doesn’t go anywhere. I don’t know what we’re gonna do with it, but we’re having a hell of a lot of… a great time making it.” George Lucas in 2007 on Late Night with Conan O’Brien talking about the new series he was developing, The Clone Wars.

In this episode of The 602 Club host Matthew Rushing is joined by Bethany Blanton and Bruce Gibson to talk about Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie. We discuss our Clone Wars experience, the animation style, the Christophsis opening, the characterizations, Ahsoka’s introduction and impact, three teachers, if it’s Anakin or Ahsoka’s story, if it set the stage for The Force Awakens, the music, The Clone Wars Vs. Rebels, favorite scenes and ratings.
